The 3 Pillars of Giving

  1. Time (Volunteer)

Our time on earth is limited and our time is fleeting. Make the most of your time by following in the footsteps of Jesus. This type of giving is providing someone else with your own time to help others.

In Matthew 6: 33-34, Jesus told us, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” When we make our time available to Him first, He will provide for all else.

  1. Talent (Skill)

You have been given skills and talents that the Lord wants to use for His Kingdom. In Romans 12:6-8 Paul writes: “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.

If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” Putting time and talents to work for others not only fulfills your calling for stewardship, it provides a great witnessing opportunity, by reflecting the love of Christ.

  1. Treasure (Donate)

We believe God owns everything, and He has blessed us and granted us the privilege and duty of managing a certain amount of money. Each Christian is a steward of God’s astounding creation. A faithful steward seeks proper use of the gifts from God. We do this willingly and cheerfully, because we want to honour Him.

2 Corinthians 9:7 says, “Each of you should give what you have

decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

The 3 Principles of Giving

  1. Proportionately

Giving is based on what God has given us. The Bible emphasizes proportional giving, as seen in Malachi 3:10, ‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it'”.

The Lord designed giving to reflect our blessings that we received from Him. The more we receive, the more we are called to give in return.

  1. Sacrificially

True giving involves sacrifice. It is not about convenience, but about honouring God with offerings that cost us something. The widow in Luke 21 demonstrated this when she gave two small coins, which was all that she had left. She gave out of her need rather than her abundance. God values what remains after we give, not just what we put in the offering.

  1. Cheerfully
